GILMAN – In preparation for the start of the WIAA playoffs next week, the Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team rested its starters on Monday at Gilman, but had no trouble in taking down the Pirates.

Columbus rolled out to a 26-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 69-31 victory.

Charlie Moore scored 20 points and Lucas Kreklau added 17 for the Dons, who are now 16-5 overall and 11-1 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division.

Andrew Hecker had a team-high 19 points for Gilman (1-14, 0-13 Cloverbelt East).

Columbus Catholic finishes its regular-season schedule with games at Loyal on Tuesday and at Spencer on Thursday.
