Stratford girls second, boys third at Edgar Invitational

EDGAR – Edgar had four multiple event winners, and had 20 overall victories as it swept the team titles at its home Dr. H.A. Schulz Track Invitational on Monday at Edgar High School.

The Edgar girls won the team title with 189 points, with Stratford second with 94. The Edgar boys were the meet champions with 202 points, with Wausau Newman Catholic second with 132 and Stratford third with 122.

Morgan Schnelle won the girls 100 meters (13.12 seconds), the 200 (26.99) and the long jump (15 feet, ½ inch), and Rachel Brewster took first in the 100 hurdles (17.39) and the 300 hurdles (50.33) to lead the Edgar girls.

Sophia Larson also won the shot put for the Wildcats with a throw of 32-8¾. The Edgar girls also won four relays.

Kressa Wenzel took first in the 1,600 in 6:23.18 and Jaidyn Wright won the girls triple jump (33-2¾) for the Stratford girls’ two wins.

The Stratford boys won three events – Noah Lucio in the 400 (54.77), Lance Krieg in the 1,600 (5:24.42), and Drey Drexler in the shot put (42-2½). Drexler also placed second in the discus (124-2).

The Edgar boys had 11 victories, three from Konnor Wolf in the 110 hurdles (16.48), the 300 hurdles (43.03) and the triple jump (40-5¼), and two from Kyle Brewster in the 100 (11.56) and the 200 (23.96).

Edgar also swept all five relays and Austin Dahlke took first in the long jump (20-4) for the Wildcats.

Both teams return to action next Monday at Marathon.
