Athens slips past Spencer baseball

SPENCER – Athens scored twice in both the first and sixth innings to pull past Spencer 4-3 in a nonconference baseball game Monday at Spencer High School.

Dom Post, Andrew Sieracki and Kaiden Miller had RBIs for the Rockets, who fall to 2-8 overall.

Chase Higgins took the loss for Spencer, allowing three runs and three hits in five innings, striking out six.

Dayne Diethelm, Kody Lepak, Cobie Ellenbecker and Brooks Kraus each had RBIs for Athens (9-4).

Athens hosts Chequamegon in a Marawood Conference North Division game Tuesday. Spencer returns to Cloverbelt Conference East Division action Thursday at home against Loyal.
