MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield junior varsity girls soccer team finished off a season to remember on Thursday with an 8-0 win over Wausau West.

With the victory, the Tigers finished off an undefeated season, going a perfect 12-0.

Head coach Steve McCann praised the team’s chemistry and overall enjoyment to be back on the field after a canceled 2020 campaign.

“We had a balanced scoring attack with many players scoring throughout the season,” McCann said. “Regulars on the scoresheet included forwards Hannah Dannielsen and Olivia Spencer, and wingers Grace Taylor and Makenzie Schreiner. Additional forwards/wingers included Makenzie Tesmer, Marily Acosta and Desiree Thomas.

“Our midfield was outstanding and we controlled many games through our excellent play in the middle of the field. Presley Franklin, Cassie Langfoss, Sonia Dissanayake, and Ali Lossman contributed with some timely goals, but set up many assists and played a lot of quality soccer.”

Marshfield had eight shutouts and allowed just six goals in its 12 games.

“Our defense was awesome. They worked as a unit, communicated well, and were backed up by our regular goalie Payton Koran,” McCann continued. “Defenders included: the Skattebo sisters, Zoie and Morgan, Lindsey Nienaber and Taylor Kundinger mostly right outside, and Ali Gunning and Jaelyn Lepage mostly covering the left side.”
