Marshfield Junior Legion baseball loses final regular-season game to Wausau

MARSHFIELD – Wausau used a seven-run fifth inning to pull away and went on to a 13-7 win over Marshfield in Junior American Legion baseball action Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.

Wausau led 3-2 after four innings before exploded for the seven-spot in the fifth, and it added three more in the final two innings to maintain a sizeable lead despite a four-run sixth from the Junior Devils.

Wausau had 12 hits and took advantage of four Marshfield errors and 15 walks in the victory.

Reese McDonald had two hits and two RBIs, Isaac Zeps drove in a pair of runs, and Ian Brown scored three times for Marshfield, which finishes its regular-season schedule at 9-12.

Marshfield will play Wisconsin Rapids in its opening game at the 17U American Legion Regional at 4 p.m. Friday at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point. The regional runs through Monday, with the champion qualifying for the 17U Wisconsin American Legion State Tournament at Manitowoc on July 23-27.
