Stevens Point football player Riley Warzynski has been voted as the MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports September High School Athlete of the Month.

The High School Athlete of the Month Award main sponsor for the 2021-22 school year is Awards ‘n’ More of Wisconsin Rapids. The monthly award will continue through June 2022, and the winner of the MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports High School Athlete of the Year will be announced in July.

Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Amherst, Athens, Assumption, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Iola-Scandinavia, Loyal, Marshfield, Mosinee, Neillsville, Pacelli, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rosholt, Spencer, Stratford, Stevens Point, Wild Rose and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.

Warzynski earned 1,907 of the nearly 4,700 votes cast during voting from Oct. 1-7 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.

Other nominees for the September award were: Pacelli football player Brycen Cashin, Auburndale volleyball player Josie Ertl, Mosinee football player Trevor Garski, Marshfield boys soccer player Seth Jonas and Columbus Catholic volleyball player Dorci Walker.

Warzynski, the Panthers’ senior quarterback, had multiple touchdown passes all four games in September as Stevens Point got off to a 5-1 start and a 4-0 mark in the Valley Football Association. Warzynski threw for 772 yards and nine touchdowns in the team’s four games in the month, and added four rushing touchdowns in the four wins.
