Auburndale wrestling earns four top-three finishes at Freedom Irish Invitational

FREEDOM – Auburndale had four top-three finishes and finished 10th in the team standings at the Freedom Irish Invitational on Saturday at Freedom High School.

Sloan Welch won the 182-pound title for Auburndale, defeating Grant Cook of Amery in the championship match 9-5. Welch improves to 27-4 this season.

Colton Weiler (27-5) finished second at 113 pounds, losing in the championship match 11-1 to Wyatt Skebba of Hortonville, and Noah Altmann (25-4) took second at 132 as he was pinned by Henry Niebauer of Hortonville in the finals.

Derek Godard (20-6) finished third at 106 and Brice Thiel (16-7) was seventh at 195 as well for the Eagles.
