Marshfield boys basketball hits 14 3-pointers, rolls past Wausau East

WAUSAU – Chase Hinson and Gavin Fravert combined for 11 of Marshfield’s 14 3-pointers as the Tigers earned a 77-64 victory over Wausau East in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys basketball game Friday night at East High School.

Hinson was 6-for-9 from 3-point range and finished with a team-high 22 points, and Fravert nailed 5 of 6 3-point attempts and scored 19 for Marshfield, which remains undefeated in the Wisconsin Valley Conference this season.

Marshfield shot 60 percent overall (27-for-45) and was 14-for-24 from long range to up its WVC record to 9-0 and its overall mark to 12-4.

Combined with Stevens Point’s loss at D.C. Everest on Friday, the Tigers now hold a two-game lead in the conference standings with three games remaining.

Marcus Neve added 10 points off the bench for Marshfield.

Marshfield plays a pair of nonconference games next week, traveling to Eau Claire North on Tuesday and hosting Holmen on next Friday, Feb. 11.
