Stevens Point tops Marshfield Senior Legion baseball

STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point’s Josh Opiola out-dueled Marshfield’s Logan Homolka as the Sixers won 3-2 in American Legion baseball action Wednesday night at Bukolt Park.

Opiola struck out six without a walk in a complete game victory for Stevens Point, which scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings and Homolka, who struck out five in five innings.

Riley Bauman and Ben Dietsche each had two hits for Marshfield, with Bauman and Carsten Jirschele driving in the Blue Devils’ runs.

Marshfield is now 18-11 overall and 8-5 in the Wisconsin Valley Legion League. Stevens Point improves to 11-16 and 8-5 in the league. The two teams will both finish up their WVLL schedules against each other on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field in Marshfield.
