Columbus Catholic girls basketball pulls past Spencer

SPENCER – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team took control in the first half and went on to a 52-35 victory over Spencer in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at Spencer High School.

The Dons pulled out to an eight-point lead by halftime and held Spencer to just 16 points in the second half, cruising to the 17-point win.

Hailey Zimmermann drilled four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points for Columbus Catholic, which is now 3-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Jenna Kibbel chipped in eight points for the Dons.

Autumn Davis continued her solid start to her freshman season for Spencer (1-3, 1-1 Cloverbelt East) with 18 points. Hallie Meyer also scored eight for the Rockets.

Spencer plays at Owen-Withee on Tuesday and at home against Greenwood on Friday, Dec. 9. Columbus Catholic is off until Dec. 9 when it hosts Owen-Withee.
