Undefeated Neillsville downs Columbus Catholic girls basketball

NEILLSVILLE – The Neillsville girls basketball team ran its winning streak to 12 as it stayed undefeated with a 56-30 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday night at Neillsville High School.

Neillsville dominated the first half, taking a 30-9 lead into halftime, and held on from there to improve to 12-0 overall and 8-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

Amelia Trunkel scored a game-high 24 points, and Sydney Subke drilled five 3-pointers and chipped in 19 points for the Warriors.

Hailey Zimmermann had three 3-pointers and scored 11 points to lead Columbus Catholic (7-8, 5-3 Cloverbelt East).

Both teams return to action Friday with Cloverbelt East contests. Columbus Catholic will play at Colby, while Neillsville will be at home to take on Owen-Withee. Both games start at 7:15 p.m.
