Phillips outlasts Stratford girls basketball

STRATFORD – Marawood Conference North Division co-leader Phillips proved too much for Stratford, outscoring the Tigers by eight points in each half to pull out a 63-47 victory in a Marawood Conference crossover matchup Friday night at Stratford High School.

Mataya Eckert had 22 points and Kacy Eggebrecht added 21 for Phillips, which improves to 13-1 overall and 9-1 in the Marawood North. The Loggers are tied for first with Athens atop the Marawood North standings.

Lauren Kraus had 19 points and 15 rebounds, making 9 of 10 free throws for Stratford (7-8, 3-6 Marawood South). Lexie Christophersen drilled five 3-pointers and added 15 points for the Tigers.

Stratford hosts Colby for a nonconference game Monday at 7:15 p.m.
