Roeper’s walk-off single gives Stratford softball win over Marathon

STRATFORD – Emma Roeper delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Tessa Berg with the winning run and give the Stratford softball team a 5-4 walk-off win over Marathon on Thursday at Hilgemann Field.

The Tigers are now 8-4 overall and 2-2 in the Marawood Conference South Division after completing the two-game sweep of Marathon this week.

Roeper finished with two hits and two RBI, and Tria Tubbs added a pair of singles and an RBI for Stratford.

Laney Pankratz threw a complete game to earn the win for the Tigers, striking out eighth without a walk.

Stratford hosts Phillips in a nonconference game Friday at Hilgemann Field beginning at 4:45 p.m.
