Zuiker, Padron carry Marshfield boys basketball team to ninth straight win

MARSHFIELD – Nine up, nine down.

The Marshfield boys basketball team improved to a perfect 9-0 on the season with a 51-41 nonconference win over Black River Falls on Tuesday night at Marshfield High School.

Cale Zuiker scored 24 points and Ian Padron added a career-high 18 points for the Tigers, who were ranked sixth in Division 1 in the latest Wissports.net State Coaches Poll.

Marshfield started strong, building a 16-4 lead after the first quarter. Black River Falls (3-5) came back to get within 23-22 by half and trailed 31-27 heading into the fourth quarter before Marshfield pulled away.

No Marshfield players other than Zuiker or Padron made more than one basket in the game.

Marshfield plays at D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game on Friday.
