Marshfield girls basketball responds from loss with blowout win over Waunakee

MARSHFIELD – Eighteen hours after suffering a stunning home loss to Wausau West, the Marshfield girls basketball team was back in action Saturday afternoon and regrouped with a huge win.

The Tigers blasted Waunakee 63-33 in a nonconference matchup at The Boson Company Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School, improving to 12-4 on the season.

Ema Fehrenbach had 21 points, Natalie Zuelke added 17 points and Caitlin Michaelis had seven points, eight rebounds and six assists for Marshfield.

Waunakee is now 6-9 this season.

The Tigers return to action Tuesday at Eau Claire North. The nonconference game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com at 7:30 p.m.

The Tigers used a 19-7 second quarter to bust out to a 27-16 halftime lead. Marshfield continued to pound the ball inside to Fehrenbach and Zuelke in the second half, outscoring Waunakee 36-17.
