Stratford’s Cade Lehman qualifies for state meet at WIAA Division 2 Medford Track Sectional

MEDFORD – Stratford senior Cade Lehman will be heading to next week’s WIAA state track meet after placing fourth in the boys 3,200 meters at the WIAA Division 2 Track & Field Sectional on Thursday at Medford High School.

Lehman was the only Stratford athlete to qualify for the 2017 WIAA State Track & Field Championships, which will be June 2-3 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The top four finishers in each event at the sectional move on to the state meet.

Lehman finished fourth in 10:02.12, just shy of seven seconds behind winner Noah Bodewes of Lakeland (9:55.43).

Among the other Stratford sectional qualifiers, Macie Schillinger was the closest to qualifying for state as she finished sixth in the girls 400 meters in 1:01.38, missing out on the fourth spot by 1.6 seconds.

Others competing for Stratford at the sectional included the girls 400 relay team of Makayla Krall, Blaire Lindner, Callie Lehman and Alexis Lappe (15th, 54.48 seconds); the girls 1,600 relay team of Schillinger, Lehman, Heather Greenberg and Lappe (eighth, 4:20.98); Schillinger in the girls 800 (13th, 2:41.78); Hunter Hannan in the boys discus (seventh, 130-8); Jacob Danen (eighth, 39-2) and Parker Hoffman (12th, 38-3½) in the boys triple jump; Damon Weix in the boys 110 hurdles (17.34 in qualifying); A.J. Schoenfuss in the 400 (ninth, 53.49); the boys 1,600 relay team of James Heeg, Danen, David Marquardt and Schoenfuss (eighth, 3:33.85); and Jacob Leick in the high jump (14th, 5-6).
