Auburndale boys basketball escapes Loyal with one-point road win

LOYAL – Evan Scholl scored off an offensive-rebound at the buzzer to lead the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 53-52 win over Loyal in a nonconference game Monday at Loyal High School.

Down by one, Caden Weinfurter attempted a 3-point in the closing seconds that missed, by Scholl was there for a rebound and putback as the buzzer sounded to give the Eagles their fifth-straight win.

Kaden Anderson led Auburndale with 23 points and six rebounds, and Weinfurter added 18 points in the win.

Auburndale improves to 16-2 this season and will head to Athens for a Marawood Conference crossover game Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Bryce Deegen led Loyal (7-12) with 18 points.
