Columbus Catholic boys basketball holds off McDonell, wins 11th in a row

CHIPPEWA FALLS – Four Columbus Catholic players scored in double figures and the Dons extended their winning streak to 11 with a 66-59 road win at Chippewa Falls McDonell on Tuesday night.

The Dons, ranked No. 1 in this week’s Wissports.net Division 5 state coaches poll, led by three at halftime and were able to hold McDonell off at the end.

Emmitt Konieczny had 17 points, Cy Becker added 15, Blake Jakobi had 14 and Charlie Moore 13 for Columbus Catholic, which improves to 19-1 this season.

Karson Galvez led the Macks (13-6) with 15 points.

Columbus Catholic is back in action Thursday with a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at Colby. The Dons can clinch the conference title with a victory. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
