WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield baseball team snapped a six-game losing skid with a 6-1 win over Wisconsin Rapids in nine innings on Wednesday at Lincoln High School.

The game was tied 1-1 after Marshfield scored in the top of the fourth and it stayed that way into extra innings.

The Tigers exploded in the top of the ninth, scoring five times before an out was recorded. Mason Anderson was hit by a pitch, Bryce Schade followed with a single and Caleb Schaefer knocked in Anderson to give Marshfield the lead.

Jakob Sadowska came up with an RBI single and Chase Robinson walked to load the bases before a wild pitch scored Schaefer. Owen Griesbach then smacked a single up the middle to score to more and give the Tigers a comfortable 6-1 lead.

Tyler Kremer finished off the game on the mound, securing the win for Marshfield (3-9, 3-3 WVC).

Marshfield pulls into a tie with Wisconsin Rapids (10-5, 3-3 WVC) for fourth place in the conference standings.

Marshfield will host a nonconference doubleheader against Chippewa Falls on Saturday at Jack Hackman Field beginning at 10 a.m.
