MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic High School graduate Paige Albrecht continued her great freshman season by scoring 35 points, dishing out five assists and grabbing four steals to lead the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team to a 70-50 win over UW-Manitowoc on Saturday.

The Marauders (5-10) jumped out to a 37-19 lead at halftime thanks to Albrecht’s 19 points.

“I told the players we needed to keep the defensive intensity going into the second half, but Manitowoc scored six unanswered points and then cut the deficit to 12,” UW-Marshfield coach Lori Galetka said. “After that we picked it up on defense, got some turnovers and some quick baskets and never looked back.”

Marissa Draxler added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Marauders, who play next on Wednesday at UW-Richland Center.
