Marshfield sophomore Paige Johnson has been chosen as the Great Northern Conference girls hockey player of the year, as voted on by the conference coaches.

Johnson helped the Tigers to an 11-3 mark (tied for second place) in the GNC and a 19-6 overall mark. Marshfield lost to the Central Wisconsin Storm in the WIAA sectional finals.

Johnson joins teammate Abbey Besler, a senior, on the six-person first team. Others selected to the first team were goalie Hillary Drake of the Central Wisconsin Storm, Winter Nielsen of Northland Pines, Kendall Nelson of Tomahawk and Makayla Lee of Point/Rapids.

Marshfield juniors Nicole Karl and Emily Wolfe were honorable mention selections.
