Marshfield graduate Maria Anderson grabs first win for UWGB women’s tennis

GREEN BAY – Marshfield High School graduate Maria Anderson, a sophomore on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s tennis team, won her first match of the spring season on Friday at a home dual meet against UW-Milwaukee.

Anderson improved to 1-5 at No. 4 singles with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win over Megan Gow of Milwaukee.

Anderson dropped to 0-6 on the spring season in doubles. She and teammate Julia Kedrzyski lost at No. 3 doubles to Sammi Schoen and Beth Ganser 8-2. Anderson was 5-10 last season.

The Phoenix have lost all six of their matches this season and will be back in action March 19 at Illinois-Chicago and March 20 against Valparaiso at Homewood, Ill.
