Colby slams past Columbus Catholic baseball

MARSHFIELD – Colby scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings to power past Marshfield Columbus Catholic 15-6 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.

Columbus led 4-3 after a wild first inning before the Hornets pulled ahead with three runs in the second, two more in the third and six in the fourth. Colby held Columbus scoreless over the last four innings to improve to 5-6 and 5-4 in the Cloverbelt East. The Dons fall to 3-7 and 3-5 in conference.

Pat Sullivan and Charlie Mayeux each went 2-for-3 for Columbus.

Bryce DeSmet took the loss, walking seven.

Colton Duvall was 3-for-5, and Neal Hogden and Aaron Koerner each had two hits for Colby.

Columbus plays at Owen-Withee on Friday.
