FOND DU LAC – A day after posting its first conference win of the season, the Marshfield boys soccer team again felt heartbreak.

Fond du Lac’s Elliot Piper scored with just 18 seconds left in regulation to lift the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over Marshfield on Friday during the first day of the two-day Fond du Lac Tournament.

Marshfield led 1-0 on a goal by Jake Limmex only to see Fond du Lac respond with a goal by Jordan Moehn to tie the score early in the second half.

Piper’s goal in the final minute sent Marshfield to its sixth loss of the season.

The Tigers managed to end a four-game losing streak on Thursday by beating Merrill 3-0.

Friday’s loss drops Marshfield’s record to 2-6. The Tigers continue play at the tournament on Saturday.
