Marshfield graduate Danielle Carlson off to strong start for Marquette volleyball

MILWAUKEE – Marshfield High School graduate Danielle Carlson continued her strong start to the volleyball season at Marquette University this past weekend at the Marquette Invitational.

Carlson, a 6-foot-3 senior, led the Golden Eagles with 13 kills in a 3-2 loss to Pacific on Friday, and tied for the team-high with 10 kills on Saturday in a 3-0 sweep of Iowa. Carlson added six kills in a 3-1 win over UW-Milwaukee on Saturday to close out the tournament with a 2-1 record.

Marquette improves to 9-3 with the two wins at the tournament.

Carlson, a 2011 All-Big East Conference performer, leads the Golden Eagles in hitting percentage at .373 and blocks with 41 through 12 matches. She also ranks second on the team with 120 kills and has added 30 digs and four aces this season.

Marquette opens Big East play Saturday at home against Syracuse.
