SPENCER – Auburndale’s Luke Haas was fourth and Spencer’s Donovan Fox took fifth in the boys race as four local teams took part in the Auburndale Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at the Frey Farm course.
Haas took fourth in 17:18.8 and Fox was fifth in 17:54.6 to lead their respective boys teams at the meet.
Marathon’s Andrew Studinski won the boys meet in 16:35.6, with teammate Steven Studinski second 6.3 seconds behind. The Raiders won the boys team title with just 37 points. Auburndale was a distant second with 102 points, with Marshfield Columbus Catholic fourth, Spencer sixth and Stratford eighth.
Spencer’s Rudy Nieman finished ninth (18:12.0), Jeremy Binder led Columbus Catholic by taking 11th in 18:13.6, and Henry Uthmeier was Stratford’s top runner, taking 27th in 19:16.4.
Phillips had three of the top eight finishers, including champion Ellie Lochner (15:57.0) to win the girls team title. Stratford was fourth, Auburndale sixth, Spencer eighth and Columbus Catholic had an incomplete team with only four runners.
Dani Bender had the top finish among local runners, taking ninth for Stratford in 16:55.5. Teammate Nadia King was 11th in 16:57.0 and Johnelle Minor took 14th in 17:10.9 for the Tigers.
Abby Bauer topped Auburndale, taking 10th in 16:56.1, with Emma Steines placing 13th in 17:00.1.
Rachel Roehl was Columbus Catholic’s best runner, finishing 16th in 17:19.0, while Samantha Fuehrer was 23rd for Spencer in 17:44.3.
