OWEN – The Spencer volleyball team wrapped up the Cloverbelt Conference East Division championship with a 3-1 win over Owen-Withee on Tuesday night at Owen-Withee High School.

The Rockets won 25-17, 15-25, 25-18, 25-14, to finish the Cloverbelt East season with a perfect 8-0 record. The loss in the second game was the only game Spencer lost in the conference this season.

Owen-Withee drops to 6-1 with a match at Greenwood on Thursday left on the schedule.

Tara Matter had 12 kills, Paige Johnson added nine kills, two aces, two blocks and 14 digs, and Alicia Endreas had a team-high 23 digs for the Rockets.

“These girls really worked hard to reach their No. 1 goal of winning conference,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “Alicia Endreas and Paige Johnson really showed their senior leadership tonight. Our fans were unbelievable … it was like a home match, we had more fans than Owen-Withee.”

Marisa Johnson added nine kills, two aces and 14 digs, and setter Brooke Kettleborough led Spencer with 37 assists.

Spencer hosts Wisconsin Valley Lutheran in a nonconference match on Thursday and closes its regular-season schedule with a Cloverbelt Conference crossover on Oct. 11.
