Spencer boys basketball whips Owen-Withee for second straight victory

SPENCER – Spencer shot 57 percent and poured 49 points in the second half alone, knocking off Owen-Withee 78-66 in a high-scoring Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Thursday night at Spencer High School.

Spencer won its second game in a row and improves to 6-10 overall and 5-9 in the Cloverbelt East. Owen-Withee drops to 7-10 and 7-7 in conference.

Spencer scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a 29-25 lead at halftime before cruising out to a 21-point lead at one point in the fourth quarter.

Jeremiah Cattanach tied his season-high, set Tuesday against Rib Lake, with 23 points on 8 of 16 shooting. Joe Meyers added 12 points and Cody Esser had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Rockets. Three others scored at least eight for Spencer.

Al Goerlitz had 29 points and 11 rebounds for Owen-Withee.

Spencer returns to action Tuesday at Granton.
