Marshfield eighth at 2013 Point Girls Track Invitational

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield girls track and field team opened its season with an eighth-place finish at the 2013 Point Girls Track Invitational on Friday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The Tigers had eight top-eight finishes to total 24.5 points and finish eighth in the team standings.

Neenah won the team title with 80 points, 1½ ahead of Kimberly.

Susan Omoba took fourth in the high jump (4-10) and eighth in the 55 meters (8.02 seconds) to pace Marshfield.

Martha Kupfer was fourth in the triple jump (33-4) to tie Omoba for the top individual performance for the Tigers.

Miranda Forest was fifth (33-2) and Melissa May sixth (32-9.5) in the shot put, Maria Brix finished seventh in the pole vault (8.0), and the Tigers 800 relay team was fifth (1:56.08) and 1,600 relay eighth (4:33.59).

Marshfield returns to action Thursday when it hosts its annual Tiger Indoor Girls Track Invitational at the Marshfield Fieldhouse.
