Marshfield graduate Maria Anderson finishes tennis career at UW-Green Bay

GREEN BAY – Marshfield High School graduate Maria Anderson wrapped up her career on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s tennis team on Friday.

Anderson, a senior, posted Green Bay’s only win in a 6-1 loss to Wright State on April 13 in the Phoenix’s home finale.

Anderson defeated Taylor Hines 6-3, 1-6, 10-8, to secure the No. 3 singles win for Green Bay.

On Friday, April 19, UWGB wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a 7-0 loss at Detroit. Anderson lost 6-4, 6-1, to Julia Fernandes at No. 3 singles, and along with Samantha Iwen lost 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, to finish 5-16 in singles and 2-18 in doubles this season.

UWGB finished the season 1-21 overall and 1-6 in the Horizon League. The Phoenix did not qualify for next weekend’s Horizon League Championships in Indianapolis.
