Marshfield advances two singles players, one doubles team to sectionals at Division 1 boys tennis subsectional

WAUSAU – Two singles players and one doubles team qualified for sectionals after competing at the WIAA Division 1 boys tennis subsectional Monday at Wausau East High School.

Marshfield senior Jacob Twardowski (16-7) advanced at No. 1 singles, winning his first match to reach the top four. Jacob Limmex (15-3) also advanced at No. 4 singles for the Tigers.

Marshfield’s No. 2 doubles team of seniors Tanner Hayes and Zach Ott (20-3) also moved on to Wednesday’s sectional at Stevens Point by winning twice.

The top four in No. 1 singles and doubles, and the top two in all other flights qualify for the sectional.

The top four in No. 1 singles and doubles, and the winner at No. 2 singles and doubles at the sectional move on to the WIAA State Individual Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison on May 30-June 1.

The top team at the sectional qualifies for the WIAA State Team Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison on June 7-8. Subsectional scores carry over to the sectional. Wausau East and Stevens Point tied for first at the subsectional with 20 points, followed by Marshfield with 16.

Individual match results from the subsectional were not provided.
