Gilman stops Columbus Catholic baseball in regular-season finale

MARSHFIELD – Gilman scored five runs in both the third and fourth innings to erase an early deficit and defeat Marshfield Columbus Catholic 13-7 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.

Columbus led 3-0 after one inning and 4-1 after two before the Pirates rallied with the two big innings against Dons’ pitcher Alex Larson.

The Dons (1-10, 1-7 Cloverbelt East) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t erase the big deficit.

Jeremy Binder was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus’ next game is a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal Thursday at Wausau Newman Catholic.
