LA CROSSE – Marshfield junior Matt Oestreich earned the only medal for the Tigers, taking fourth in the Division 1 boys triple jump on Saturday at the 2013 WIAA State Track and Field Championships.

Oestreich finished with a leap of 44 feet, 8¼ inches to earn a fourth-place medal (top six medal). Keyshawn Davis of Milwaukee King won the event with a jump of 46-11¼.

Keiron Howlett also competed in the triple jump for the Tigers on Saturday. After suffering an injury during the 400 relay on Friday and withdrawing from the 200 meters and the long jump, Howlett took part in the triple jump and finished 13th with a jump of 42-9¾. Howlett had been seeded fourth after winning last week’s Rice Lake sectional with a jump of 44-8¼.

Marshfield senior Melissa May was the only girl competing for the Tigers on Saturday and she did not record a throw in the Division 1 shot put. Kiley Sabin of Slinger won the event with a throw of 43-4¾.

Brookfield East edged Green Bay Preble by one point (51-50) to win the Division 1 boys team title. Marshfield was tied for 33rd with Oestreich’s five points earned in the triple jump.

Kenosha Tremper had 48 points, two more than Waukesha West, to win the Division 1 girls team championship.
