MARSHFIELD – Sarah Claessens won a pair of events and Elizabeth Holbrook won the 200 IM and was part of a relay win for Marshfield in a 98-72 loss to Wisconsin Rapids in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls swimming dual meet Thursday at Marshfield High School.
Claessens won the 200 freestyle in 2:15.34 and the 500 freestyle in 5:58.46 for the Tigers.
Holbrook won the 200 IM in 2:32.22 and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team with Anna Hilbelink, Karen Scheuer and Michelle Fernandez that won in 4:22.36.
Those were the only four events the Tigers won in the meet, which Wisconsin Rapids won due to its depth.
The 200 medley relay team of Charlotte Urban, Holbrook, Claessens and Guzowski (2:10.00) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Urban, Guzowski, Grace Hilbelink and Claessens (1:58.93) both finished second for Marshfield.
Also taking second for Marshfield were Anna Hilbelink in the 200 IM (2:35.57) and 100 butterfly (1:09.57), Holbrook finished second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.33 and Karen Scheuer was runnerup in the 500 freestyle in 6:14.41, finishing behind Claessens.
Marshfield is off until Oct. 10 when it will swim at Horace Mann Middle School in Wausau against Wausau East.
