Columbus Catholic boys basketball routs Greenwood

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic held on to its share of the lead in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball standings with a 49-28 victory over Greenwood on Friday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

The Dons improve to 8-2 and 6-1 in the Cloverbelt East. They were tied with Spencer and Owen-Withee coming into Friday’s action for the top spot in the conference.

Columbus took a 14-7 lead after the first quarter and closed out the victory with a dominating 23-6 second-half advantage. Greenwood (2-7, 2-5 Cloverbelt East) did not score in the fourth quarter.

Jacob Puent had 18 points and Jared Fleischmann added 16, accounting for nearly 70 percent of the Dons’ scoring.

Columbus is off until next Thursday when it plays at Owen-Withee.
