ESCANABA, Mich. – The Marshfield softball team went 1-2 at the Escanaba Invitational on Saturday.
Marshfield lost to Escanaba 11-1 and Neenah 6-1 before defeating Sault St. Marie (Mich.) 13-5. The Tigers are now 9-12 this season.
Lexi Dupee had four hits, including three doubles, and Makayla Barth added three hits for the Tigers in the win over Sault St. Marie.
Miranda Baierl earned the win, striking out four in five innings.
Katie Treankler, Jessi Lyon and Kayla Kluge each had two hits in the victory.
Dupee hit a home run to account for Marshfield’s lone run in the opening game against Escanaba. Marshfield had only two hits and committed seven errors in the loss.
Treankler had two of Marshfield’s six hits in the loss to Neenah. Caitlyn Kozik suffered the loss, striking out two.
“In the first two games, some errors really hurt us,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said. “They were both close games until we had a couple of errors that allowed them to keep some innings going.”
Marshfield wraps up its regular season this week with four home games. The Tigers host D.C. Everest on Tuesday, Stevens Point on Thursday and plays a nonconference doubleheader against La Crosse Logan on Friday. All of the games are scheduled to be played at Central Wisconsin Fairgrounds.
