Columbus Catholic baseball whips Loyal in WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and rolled to an 11-1 win over Loyal in a WIAA Division 4 baseball regional semifinal Wednesday at Jack Hackman Field.

Kienan McIntee threw a six-inning, complete-game, striking out three, walking two and giving up five hits to earn the win for the Dons (9-10). Loyal scored its only run in the fourth.

The Dons pounded out 15 hits, scoring the final run in the sixth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Matthias Gouin went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and McIntee, Bryce DeSmet, John Edwards, Jeremy Binder and Jared Fleischmann all had two hits apiece for Columbus. Binder also drove in three runs.

Columbus Catholic will take on Northland Lutheran/Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (8-8) in a Division 4 regional final at 5 p.m. Friday at Jack Hackman Field. The winner moves on to Tuesday’s sectional tournament at Tigerton.
