STRATFORD – The Stratford football team snapped a two-game losing streak, blasting Rib Lake/Prentice 36-6 in a Marawood Conference game Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers improve to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Marawood, while Rib Lake/Prentice is now 1-6 and 0-5 in the conference.
The victory pushes Stratford one step closer to earning a WIAA playoff spot. The Tigers must win one of their final two games to clinch a berth.
Auburndale (5-1, 4-1 Marawood) plays at Stratford next Friday and the Tigers finish their regular-season schedule on Oct. 17 at Pittsville (2-5, 1-5 Marawood).
Stratford led 22-0 at halftime and put the game away with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.
The Tigers forced four turnovers, but had three of its own, including two interceptions.
Stratford racked up 298 yards rushing on just 32 carries and four different players scored touchdowns for the Tigers.
Jake Reif led the way with 95 yards rushing and a score, Taylor Krall added 63 yards and two touchdowns, and Kam Bornbach and Jake Zuelke each added TDs for the Tigers.
Joe Frombach caught a 55-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Braxton for the Hawks’ only touchdown.
