Stratford girls basketball roughs up Newman Catholic

STRATFORD – Macie Frueh had 18 points, and Tianna Hughes added 15 points and seven rebounds, to lead the Stratford girls basketball team to a 66-43 rout of Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Tuesday night at Stratford High School.

The Tigers assure themselves of a winning season by improving to 12-4 overall and they are now 5-3 in the Marawood South. Newman drops to 5-9 and 2-6 in the conference.

Savannah Schillinger added 10 points and six rebounds, and Andie Zuelke had eight points and nine rebounds for the Tigers.

Stratford led 31-17 at halftime and finished strong, outscoring the Cardinals 20-9 in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers host Auburndale on Friday.
