Stratford boys basketball starts strong, grabs road win at Chequamegon

PARK FALLS – Stratford opened up a 10-point lead in the first quarter and held on the rest of the way to defeat Chequamegon 50-37 in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday night at Chequamegon High School.

Stratford led 16-6 at halftime and opened up a 25-11 advantage by halftime behind a strong defensive performance.

Eight different Tigers scored in the win, led by Jake Reif, who had 15 points. Dawson Gebelein added 11 points, five rebounds and five steals.

Stratford (9-3) hosts Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday. The two teams are tied for second place at 4-2 in the conference.
