Pittsville ends Columbus Catholic’s season with win in WIAA Division 5 boys basketball regional semifinal

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team’s season ended with a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal loss to Pittsville 47-36 on Friday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

The Dons struggled offensively as they tied their second-lowest scoring output of the season with 36 points. The season-low for Columbus came in a 34-31 loss to Pittsville back on Nov. 28. Columbus ends its season with a 15-9 record.

Pittsville (12-12) moves on to a Division 5 regional final at Marawood Conference South Division rival Wausau Newman Catholic (18-6) at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Columbus led 21-19 at halftime, but was shutout in the third quarter and fell behind by 10.

Ben Behling had 11 points to top Columbus Catholic.

Aidan Masanz and Jacob Allind each had 12 points for Pittsville.
