Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Junior Legion team 4-4 after sweep of Wisconsin Rapids

The Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Junior Legion baseball team is now 4-4 after sweeping a doubleheader at Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday.

The Blue Demons beat Rapids 6-2 and came back from a late deficit to win Game 2 5-4.

Connor Jasurda tossed a complete game with two strikeouts to pick up the win in the opener.

Jake Brueggen, Luke Krueger, and Michael Damrau each had two hits.

Brueggen threw two shutout innings in relief to win Game 2 and added a pair of hits and scored twice.

Marshfield trailed 4-2 before tying the game with two runs in the sixth. Brueggen singled, moved to second on a bunt and scored on an error for the go-ahead run in the seventh.

The Blue Demons split a doubleheader at Plover last Friday, winning 7-6 and losing 10-6.

Jasurda earned the win and Zach Needham tossed a shutout inning to get the save in the opener.

Logan Jakobi had three hits and Sawyer Lovstad knocked in the go-ahead run in the sixth for Marshfield.

Jared Klein had two hits and two RBIs, Braden Bohman drove in two runs and Damrau had an RBI in the Game 2 loss.

The Blue Demons were shut out in a pair of nonconference games at Chippewa Falls on Monday, losing 5-0 and 3-0.

Bohman had a pair of hits in the first game.

The Blue Demons play at D.C. Everest on Thursday.
