SPENCER – The Spencer volleyball team had its hands full with Neillsville, but the Rockets were able to pull out three tight wins and defeat the Warriors 3-0 in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal on Thursday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets, the No. 1 seed in their regional bracket, won 26-24, 25-23, 25-23, to advance to a regional final at home on Saturday against either Loyal/Granton or Auburndale.

Macie Weber had 18 kills and six blocks to lead the Rockets. Setters Sadie Mercier and McKenzie Bainer had 21 and 16 assists, respectively, and Jenna Rogers had 10 digs on defense for Spencer.

“Neillsville really played well – a different team than we played three weeks ago,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “We really stuck together as a team and dealt with a solid attack from them.”
