Auburndale girls basketball wins Marawood South opener at Newman Catholic

WAUSAU – The Auburndale girls basketball team opened its Marawood Conference South Division schedule with a huge road win as it took down Wausau Newman Catholic 51-43 on Friday night at Newman High School.

Taylor Gotz scored 19 points and Paiton Richardson added 15 for Auburndale, which improves to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Marawood South. Newman is now 1-1 and 0-1 in the conference.

The Apaches outscored Newman by four points in each half to pull out the victory.

Auburndale hosts Edgar in a nonconference game Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
