Marshfield boys hockey ends four-game losing streak with OT win over Pacelli

MARSHFIELD – Justin Stanek scored 7:31 into overtime to lift the Marshfield boys hockey team to a 3-2 win over Stevens Point Pacelli in the first round of the annual Marshfield Tigers Tournament on Friday at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.

The win for the Tigers ends a four-game losing streak and improves their record to 2-5. Pacelli is now 4-5.

Nate Boson scored 34 seconds into the game for the Tigers and Tyler Spaeth had a goal at the 12:20 mark of the second period for Marshfield’s other goal.

Pacelli’s Zach Graf tied the game at 2-2 with a goal 3:29 into the third period and the score remained that way until Stanek’s game-winner in overtime.

Marshfield plays Eau Claire North at 1:15 p.m. and Chequamegon at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday as the tournament continues. Other games Saturday pit Sparta against Chequamegon at 11 a.m. and Sparta against Pacelli at 3:30 p.m.
