Marshfield boys hockey loses, ties at home tournament

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys hockey team lost and tied in a pair of games at its home tournament on Saturday at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.

The Tigers lost to Eau Claire North 2-0 and tied Chequamegon/Phillips 2-2 in overtime to finish the tournament 1-1-1.

North outshot Marshfield (2-6-1) 33-18 and managed to slip one shot in the first and third periods past goalkeeper Haydon Roy-Peterson (31 saves) to earn the win.

Zac Stange scored with 1:06 left in the first period and Carson Lemanski scored at the 13:41 mark of the third for North (7-2).

Justin Stanek and Isaac Wellens scored in the game against Chequamegon/Phillips to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead, but they couldn’t hold on.

Seth Gehrke scored with 6 seconds left in the second period and Kevin Koski added a goal 4:54 into the third for C/P to tie the game.

Neither team was able to score in overtime as Chequamegon/Phillips (1-3-1) outshot Marshfield 6-4 in the extra frame.

Logan Cerney had 12 saves and Roy-Peterson six in the tie for Marshfield.

Marshfield’s next game is at home Tuesday against Merrill.
