Marshfield baseball rallies to top Appleton West in 10 innings

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield baseball team came back from two deficits to down Appleton West 9-8 in 10 innings Saturday at Jack Hackman Field in a nonconference matchup.

Appleton West scored six times in the first innings and led 7-3 after 6½ innings before Marshfield rallied, scoring four times in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

West took the lead with a run in the top of the 10th, but the Tigers came back again, scoring twice in the bottom of the inning to win in walk-off fashion.

Connor Jasurda earned the victory for the Tigers, allowing one run in three innings of relief.

Trevor Schwecke had two doubles, a triple, and three RBIs at the plate and also pitched 5 1/3 innings of relief, giving up just one run and striking out six for Marshfied. Mason Metz went 3-for-4, and Paul Maguire had three RBIs for the Tigers, who are now 10-12.

Marshfield finishes its regular-season schedule with two Wisconsin Valley Conference games against Wausau East – Tuesday at home and Thursday at East.
