Stanley-Boyd overwhelms Stratford football in season opener

STANLEY – The Stratford football team dropped its season opener at Stanley-Boyd on Friday night, losing 35-7 in a nonconference game.

Brandon Herrick caught four touchdown passes, three from quarterback Seth Hause and another on a halfback option pass from Zak Ingersoll. Hause added another TD throw to Ben Turner in the third quarter.

Hause finished 13 of 19 for 259 yards and the four touchdowns, while Herrick caught seven passes for 247 yards and the four scores.

Kam Bornbach scored the only touchdown for Stratford on a 6-yard run in the second quarter that closed the Orioles’ lead to 14-7 at the time. Stanley-Boyd, however, scored three unanswered touchdowns after that to pull away.

The Tigers open their home and Marawood Conference schedule next Friday at home against defending conference champion Marathon at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.
