Unbeaten Newman Catholic outlasts Stratford volleyball

WAUSAU – After splitting the first two sets with Stratford, Wausau Newman Catholic won the final two to defeat the Tigers 3-1 in a battle of Marawood Conference South Division volleyball leaders Tuesday at Newman Catholic High School.

The Cardinals won 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 25-11, to remain as the only undefeated team in the conference at 3-0. Stratford drops to 1-1.

McKayla Krall had 10 kills, seven assists, and four combined blocks, Mazie Nagel added nine kills, and led the team with eight digs and eight assists, and Brooke Peterson added six kills for Stratford.

The Tigers are off until next Tuesday when they host Wisconsin Rapids Assumption for a conference matchup.
