MADISON – The 42nd annual WIAA State Softball Tournament was held Thursday, June 8 through Saturday, June 10, at Goodman Diamond on the University of Wisconsin campus.

This marked the first year of a five-division format for the state playoffs and tournament.

Kaukauna, making just its second state appearance, won its second title in Division 1, knocking off Wilmot 3-1 in the championship game. The Ghosts also won the D-1 title in 2010.

In Division 2, Rice Lake won its second state title, beating Kewaskum 13-9 in a wild championship game. Rice Lake also won a Division 2 title in 2004.

Laconia (25-0) finished off an undefeated season and won its third-straight Division 3 championship with a 5-0 shutout of Weyauwega-Fremont.

Juda/Albany won the Division 4 title with a narrow 2-1 win over Stevens Point Pacelli to win its first state title.

In Division 5, Chippewa Falls McDonell won its second state title to go along with a D-4 title in 2008, with an 8-4 win over Blair-Taylor.
